The Avenue

Project name: The Avenue

Outline of idea:

Ethan (main male character) proposes to Annabelle (main female character)

at the Manchester Christmas markets.

Sadie (Ethans Ex-girlfriend) come back into town- gets of train at Piccadilly
Train Station.

Sadie checks in to the Midland Hotel in Manchester and Ethans friend Ollie
who works their rings/texts Ethan to tell him. (Guess whos just checked in)

Annabelle discusses her venue choices with her two friends Alice and Lucy,
decides the Midland is an option.

Ethan and Ollie meet up to discuss what to do about Sadie. Ollie tells him
you have to go see her.

Ethan enters the Midland hotel and sees Sadie; they go and get a drink at the
bar.

Annabelle and Danielle turn to view the Midland and see Ethan and Sadie
having a drink flirting (her hand on his upper thigh).

Narratives:
One story line from Annabelles perspective That a woman is coming in trying to
ruin her life, so a relationship scandal.
Annabelle and her long term boyfriend of five years, Ethan, are at the Manchester
Christmas Markets when Ethan gets down on one knee and proposes to her with a
diamond ring. She enthusiastically says yes. Little do they know that Sadie, Ethans
ex-girlfriend, is planning a trip back into town after suddenly moving away 6 years
ago. A few months later when arriving back in Manchester Sadie gets a taxi and
checks in at the Midland hotel where Ethans best friend, Ollie works. Ollie shocked
at her arrival, texts/rings Ethan to inform him about her unexpected coming.
Meanwhile Annabelle is discussing her venue options for her wedding day with Lucy
and Alice who are just as excited as she is. They decided the Midland Hotel would be
a very suitable venue. Meanwhile Ethan and Ollie arrange to meet up to talk about
what to do about Sadies impromptu return. Ollie tells him he has to go and see her
even if its just for old times sake. The next day Ethan goes to the Midland to see
Sadie, and he sees her walking down the stairs. They exchange hellos and go to get a
drink at the bar for a catch up. Ethan has lots of questions after Sadie just
disappeared 6 years ago. Annabelle and her friend Danielle go to view the Midland
Hotel and see Ethan and Sadie having a drink flirting (her hand on his upper thigh).

Target Audience
The Avenue will target 15-30 year old females who are interested in modern social
issues within glamorous lifestyles.

Reasons as to why the idea will work (broadcast time, demand for
style of show, mass/niche appeal)
The Avenue will be broadcasted at 9 oclock on E4 as it will contain some mature
themes and profanity. We believe this style of show will be in demand as America
has these styles of shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl that are popular, whereas the
UK doesnt and so The Avenue will be a UK styled soap-drama show that is in the
same style as the American ones. The Avenue will hopefully appeal to women that
are interested in the 90210 and Gossip Girl soap- opera hybrids.

Station.
P- The Midland Hotel and the bars and restaurants

Client feedback (including areas for development prior to

drafting of treatment):
The feedback was that the storyline wasnt quite as clear as it potentially could have
been and some of the feedback we got from mostly the male clients was that the
soap targeted more of a female audience.
