Ministry of Steel Scholarships:

National Steel Policy announced by Government of India envisages production of steel of

80 MT by 2011-2012 and 180MT by 2019-2020. Hence the growth of the steel industry
requires large number of Metallurgical Engineers and trained manpower. It is also
envisaged to encourage the students at the entry level and to improve quality of students
pursuing study of ferrous metallurgy. This issue was discussed in the meeting of
Empowered Committee operating under the chairmanship of Secretary of Ministry of
Steel and other leading educational and research institutes. Following this it is proposed
to introduce 5 scholarships to undergraduate students of MME. Students selected for this
scholarship are required to give undertaking.
Scholarship amount: Rs.4000/- per month per student
Duration: First year to Final year (4 years)
Criterion for selection: All India Rank in AIEEE
These scholarships are applicable for two batches, i.e. 2008-2012 batch and 2009-2013
batch.

Undertaking of the student
