Hobbies & Interests

I enjoy cooking, reading (especially about
food), watching food documentaries,
triathlons, Spanish and French, gardening,
soccer, hiking, skiing, backpacking, and
spending time in the great outdoors!

Teaching Philosophy

It took me quite a while to come to the realization that I was meant to be an

educator. With the meandering decisions of my life, I finally understood
that the one commonality of my memorable past experiences and my many
future desires was teaching. I wanted to be a chef so that I could teach
others how to cook; I wanted to be a doctor so that I could inform others
about nutrition and health; I wanted to be a writer so that I could share my
thoughts. Educating others is what I enjoyed and desired most teaching is
truly at my core. However, I want to teach not only because I love to share
my knowledge, but also because I have a desire to be part of something
greater, something that impacts others and develops our community and
influences generation after generation.

Background & Experience

I began working with the youth in leadership positions and babysitting
throughout high school. In college, I continued this experience through
teaching college classes and working as a summer camp counselor.
However, it was not until graduate school that I took on a more significant
teaching role. I worked as a tutor and teachers assistant in a kindergarten
classroom for a year and then as a cooking instructor and camp leader in an
elementary after school program. Now as an education student, I have
further engaged in my in-school time with students.

Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education Martin Luther King Jr.

I believe that teachers have a responsibility to teach not only their content area but also those skills which enable students
to become outstanding citizens. Teachers should instill ethics, morals, and values, as well as perseverance and integrity,
while giving children opportunities for leadership and growth. A teacher is a guide and mentor, providing belief, support,
and knowledge so their students can be successful in school and in life.
