HERKIMER, NY - The Herkimer Generals Womens Soccer team recently garnered more awards as three of their
players were named to the 2014 NSCAA All-American Team.
Sophomore midfielder Dani Nicosia, Oneonta,NY, was named to the 1st team earning NSCAA AllAmerican status for the second time. Freshmen forward Teigha Ward, Ilion, NY, & freshmen goalkeeper Sydney
Stanley were named to the 2nd team. They will receive their awards at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, PA
on January 17th at the All-American Awards Luncheon where high school & college soccer players from all over the
country will be in attendance.
It is extremely rare to have three team members named to the NSCAA All-American Team. The last time
for Herkimer womens soccer was 2006. Some of the sports biggest names have been lined up to attend the starstudded convention such as Pele, former Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson, and former National Team
Captain & more recently MLS Champion Landon Donovan are all slated to be there.
Im very proud to have three All-Americans on one team, said Head Womens Soccer Coach Ryan
Brooks-Newton. It shows how far they have come in a short period of time, but its a testament to our team,
proving we are going in the right direction. Im a very proud coach!
