The Queen of the Damned (1988) is the third novel of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chr
onicles series. It follows Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. Th
is novel is a continuation of the story that ends in a cliffhanger in The Vampir
e Lestat and explores the rich history and mythology of the origin of the vampir
es, which dates back to Ancient Egypt.
On March 9, 2014, it was announced that there would be another installment of Th
e Vampire Chronicles titled Prince Lestat which would be a sequel to The Queen o
f the Damned. Tentative release date is said to be October 28, 2014. There was a
lso mention of a second book, a sequel to Prince Lestat, tentatively titled Bloo
d Paradise.
