DIFFERENT DRESSING SOLUTIONS AND ITS USES:

1. Miltons Solution
Components:
1L sterile water
20cc zonrox
Uses:
Wound with foul smelling
Wound ready for grafting
2. Daikins Solution
Components:
1L sterile water
20cc zonrox
30gms baking soda
Uses:
Wound with foul smelling, gangrenous or necrotic
Diabetic foot.
3. Silver nitrate solutions
Components:
1L sterile water
5gms silver nitrate granules
Uses:
For wound with over growth
To soften the eschar.
4. Albothyl Solution
Components:
1L 3% NaCl
25ml Albothyl concentrate
Uses:
Same with Daikens solution
5. Anti Fungal Solution
Components:
1L .9% NSS
30cc mycostatin (oral drops)
100gms silver sulfadiazine
Uses:
Wound infected with fungus
Post STSG
6. 3% NaCl
Components:

1L sterile water
30 tablets NaCl

Uses:
Light overgrowth
Wounds ready for grafting

7. .9% NSS
Components:

1L sterile water
9 tablets NaCl

Uses:
Base solutions
Used for cleaning the wounds

300cc Hydrogen Peroxide


300cc Del Monte Vinegar
300cc 3% NaCl
100gms (30ml) Flammacerium
1 sachet zinc oxide
500mg (1 tab) ascorbic acid
1 gel (caplet) Vit A, E.
120ml olive oil
Cod liver oil

Uses:
To soften the eschar
For faster grow of granulation (islands)
10. Silver Sulfadiazine (Flammacerium, Innocederm, Flammazine)
Uses - fresh burned wounds
- uses for healed wounds or skin graft
11. Olive Oil uses for wounds infected with staphylococcus
12. Honey same with olive oil
13. Fucidin ointment for wounds infected with staphylococcus
14. Bactegrass used for dressing of fresh grafted skin.
15. AQUACEL

FLUID THERAPY:
Modified Parkland Formula: 2ml x wt. in KG x %TBSA =
First half of fluid runs for 10 hours
Second half of fluid runs for 14 hours.
Adults: Plain Lactated Ringers 1L + 110 meq NAHCO3
Children: Dextrose 5% Lactated Ringers 1 L + 50meq NAHCO3
