MELAYU

Malaysia has stated English as a second


language in Article 152 and Bahasa Melayu
as its mother tongue

Both languages have been implemented


through social setting and education setting.

Malaysians are exposed to English and


Bahasa Melayu through different media
outlets available: newspaper, magazines,
film, television, music and etc.

ADJECTIVE
An

adjective describes how


something 'is'.

Adjectives

are used to describe

nouns.
It

describes the quality, state or


action that a noun refers to.

Example:

He is a good doctor.
We have two small cars.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Bahasa Melayu acts as the mother


tongue and English is recognized as
the second language in Malaysia.

Both languages have its own use of


adjectives

Therefore, this research tends to


investigate the differences and
similarities between these two
languages on their use of adjectives

This

research will narrow


down into three main
focuses of the adjectives:
1. Position of adjectives
2. The types of adjectives
3. Comparative and
superlative adjectives

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

research will have the following


objectives:

Compare and contrast the position of the


adjectives in English and Bahasa Melayu

Compare and contrast the types of


adjectives in English and Bahasa Melayu

3)

Compare and contrast the comparative


and superlative adjectives in English and
Bahasa Melayu

RESEARCH QUESTIONS

The research questions are formulated as


follows:

What are the similarities or differences in


the position of adjectives between English
and Bahasa Melayu?

What are the similarities or differences in


the types of adjectives between English
and Bahasa Melayu?

How does the use of comparative and


superlative adjectives are similar or
different between English and Bahasa
Melayu?
