ANALYSIS OF SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR DRIVE STABILITY

BY USING CURRENT SOURCE INVERTER (CSI) WITH

POWER FACTOR CONTROL OCCURRED BY SMALL
PERTURBATION

ABSTRACT

Three-phase synchronous Motor works on a constant speed according to the

voltage and frequency and also can be used to improve the power factor. Along
with the increasing load, the motor will still working in a constant speed, but the
motor will stop working when the load has exceeded its maximum torque. This
research will discuss about the stability of synchronous motor which was supplied
by a Current Source Inverter (CSI) with the power factor control, when the motor
was given a minor disturbance in the form of field current addition/reduction or
the addition of load periodically. The power factor of the motor was maintained
constant at 0.85. From the result analysis, it was obtained that the stability of the
motor becomes larger. Using Eigen value method of stability, the maximum limit
of the stability which the synchronous motor can achieves is in torsion angles
1300 with the value of Is is 0.3 pu.
