Definition of Phobia
Phobia
anxiety disorder
a persistent fear of an object or situation
sufferer commits to avoiding his fear/s
disproportional to the actual danger posed
often recognized as irrational

Phobia
comes from the Greek: (phbos),
meaning "aversion or "morbid fear
specific phobias are given names based on a
Greek word for the object of the fear, plus the
suffix -phobia

Mechanisms of phobia
Front part of the brain
processing of emotions
and response to negative
stimuli
reaction to emotional
stress or fearful
memories
Normal loss of our fears
is inhibited
Unending fear of an object

1. Pentheraphobia
Fear of your mother in law

2. Scriptophobia
Fear of writing in public

3. Omphalophobia
Fear of belly buttons

4. Hylophobia
Fear of wood, forests, or trees

5. Anthophobia
Fear of flowers

6. Xanthophobia
Fear of the color yellow

7.Sanguivoriphobia
Fear of vampires
