Big Apple Award: Ms. Whyte

Introduction: Big Apple Award
Great teacher have benefit more than 1.1
million students in todays world. The Big Apple Award is a
citywide teacher recognition program. The Big Apple Award is
a recognition given to a full-time public school teachers in New
York City only. Now the city uses the big apple award to
celebrate the great educators across the City. They only honor those teachers who inspire students,
model great teaching, and enrich their school communities. The Big Apple Award is a citywide annual
nomination where a many educators get picked and come together. Here people vote for the best
teacher for the year. When the teachers are chosen they have to do a lot of work. Teachers must write
essays and letters on to what their skills are. When this application is finished there are 100 semifinalists. Only 40 teachers get to the last procedure and thats where they announce the teacher who
wins. Now you basically know what the Big Apple Award is and what happens. I believe that from P.S.
/ M.S. 124 Osmond a Church School I believe that the person nominated should be MS. Whyte. Heres
why
Specific qualities of Ms. Whyte:
I say every teacher is the best because they all have their
ways and believe in the best for every students. Right now I am in the 2nd
marking period for 7th grade whereas I cant tell who my favorite teacher

is so, I choose my 6th grade teacher. Youre wondering why

I nominate Ms. Whyte has the best teacher? First of all, Ms.
Whyte believes the best for every student. She never gives
up on anything and does all she needs to do to help a
student. If anyone is dropping low in class she would find a
way to help anyone. It shows how Ms. Whyte is a caring
teacher. She tries to make sure everyone is successful. Next, Ms. Whyte is a very competitive person
and does all she wants to win. In the S.T.E.M fair she had really wanted 6-107 to be the class to win.
Also, during the penny harvest she had wanted to win but sad enough we didnt. A competitive teacher
is usually a good teacher because that is a teacher you puts forth challenges and is ready to complete
them all which means that she is a determined person. Another quality, is that she makes everything
engaging. She doesnt make you write notes but does hands on activity to help us have a better
understanding. She also, is an organized person. If you take a step into her classroom everything is in
order and ready to impress anyone who enters her room. She wouldnt lose any work or forget to grade
an assignment which was given. She even is a kind person. She isnt someone who would show hatred.
If you talk to her with respect you get the same thing back. She would never ever turn off anyone. Last
but not least, Ms. Whyte is joyful. She is not in a bad mood unless she is sick or disappointed at her
class because they did the wrong thing. Ms. Whyte is happy and a real funny person. She is a creative
person and knows everything going on. Its like she is a magician because she knows what you will
say. So, you never want to do anything because in a second she will figure everything out. This
characteristic is a really great characteristic about Ms. Whyte. I could actually go on and on about Ms.
Whyte but from all this she deserves the Big Apple Award.
My 6th Grade Year with Ms. Whyte/ effects:
As I talked about the qualities that Ms.
Whyte has it had put an effect on me. At first, I was a student

who didnt excel in reading and had a lot of trouble. I would always be in a low class like honors and
even lower. I was actually about to give up at first because I was not doing as great as I thought. I
didnt even know what I should have done till 5th grade. Now my teacher in 6th grade was Ms. Whyte.
As I told you about her qualities above, those qualities had put an effect on me. All of sudden I was
someone who wanted to excel in school and get to a top class. Throughout the year I had one goal and
done as much as possible I could do. Ms. Whyte had helped me a lot so I could get into a 701 class. I
noticed that my average actually was greater than one person in a top class. When I found that out I
knew I could do it. Ms. Whyte had been really caring and nice. She would take the time to explain
everything thoroughly out to me. I actually had a supportive teacher you had wanted me to do well. At
the end of the year I had the greatest average from everyone and went to 701 which made me glad. At
the same time I was upset because I wouldnt have the same teacher for my 7th grade class. If I were to
go back in time I would again be in Ms. Whytes class. That was a class I would never forget in my
whole life.
Conclusion:
On the contrary, thats what I think about Ms. Whyte. She
should really be nominated for the Big Apple Award program. She has all
the qualities that make a good teacher. Ms. Whyte has a great influence on
children like me to do something and be successful in life. She takes her
responsibility of being a teacher and does everything she should do to help
children. Everything is amusing and interesting in her class. To nominate for the best teacher you
should nominate Ms. Whyte and Im sure she will do her best. And thats my favorite teacher.
