    Henry Ford began experimenting with gasoline engines in 1893 after being promoted to Chief Engineer at Edison Illuminating Company. He completed his first vehicle, the Ford Quadricycle, in 1896. In 1903, Ford founded the Ford Motor Company with investors to produce affordable automobiles for average Americans. Ford's Model T, introduced in 1908 for $825, was very popular due to its reliability and affordability. By 1927 over 15 million Model Ts had been produced. Ford introduced the assembly line in 1913, vastly increasing production speeds and allowing the price of the Model T to drop significantly. The Model T's successor, the Model A, debuted in 1927 and also sold very quickly before Ford's death in 1947.
