    Jesus went to John the Baptist to be baptized even though he was sinless. When he came up out of the water, the Holy Spirit descended on him like a dove and a voice from heaven said "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased". John realized that Jesus was the Messiah they had been waiting for, and that the glory resting on Jesus was a pledge that those who believe in him will become true sons and daughters of God.
