Pulp Cavity of Permanent Teeth

Pulp chamber that is present in the crown it outline follows the outline of the
crown
In young teeth, it has pulp horns related to the cusps
Root canal is present in the root and follows its outline.

Incisors
Canines

The number of root canals in incisors is only one. The root canal ends in an apical foramen

Premolars

The number of root canals in canines is only one.

Sometimes lower 3 has two root canals labially and lingually. The canals open in one apical
foramen or separate foramina
2 root canals(B and L) sometimes may get 3 root canals but very rare
Lingual canal is larger and more accessible
BL section has a wider pulp chamber while MD section is narrow
Mostly 2 roots but if theres one root, it will still have 2 root canals
Pulp chamber is broader Bucco-lingually than mesio-distally (thickness >width)
No. of pulp horn correlates to the No. of Cusps
The floor of the pulp chamber is apical to the cervical line
Pulp chamber goes deeper than cervical line but not too deep
3 main root canals
U6 - MB root may have 2 root canal most of the time will have 4 roots as MB will have 2 roots,
however this is hard to find
U7 MB root may have 2 root canals but not very often most of the time will be 3 root canals
U8 pulp cavity showed great variation in size and shape the pulp chamber if larger than other
molars because its a younger molar, therefore less secondary regular dentin
Cervical cross section: Rhomboidal(look more or less like a crown)
Mid root section:
MB root canal (Oval-Kidney)
DB root canal (Round-oval)
P root canal(Round-Oval) larger than buccal root
Pulp chamber is broad mesio-distally
Almost rectangular in shape
Pulp horn beneath each cusp
L6 - 3 main root canals M root has 2 root canals while D root has 1 root canal
Abnormalities 3 or 4 roots or 4 root canals
BL pulp chamber is square
MD pulp chamber is rectangular
Pulp horn beneath each cusps
3 main root canals M root usually has 2 root canals while D root has 1 root canal, however
sometimes D root can get 2 root canals but most of the time is 1
Cervical sections triangular due to small dimension distally
Mid root section M root is kidney shape with 2 small canals and D root is oval with 1 large
rounded canal
