ALL TERRAIN ROBOTS

ALL TERRAIN ROBOT

ALL TERRAIN ROBOTS

A robot act under the direct control of human being.

Robot can perform the task that are too difficult for human to implement.

This robot can travel in all sorts of road like gravel, sand, stone, inclined plane etc.

Our objective is to make a robot which can be helpful for our indian defence
force.

CHASSIS/FRAME

Frame of robot is the basic structure to which we attach everything.

It is probably the largest part of the robot.

We need to make sure that it is made of light weight rigid material.

It is generally made up of aluminum or plastic.

WHEEL BASICS
WHEEL DIAMETER
With the help of wheel we need both torque and velocity.
With the help of high torque our robot can go up a hill easily.

With the help of high velocity robot can move faster.

Large diameter wheel gives us low torque but high velocity.
Small diameter wheel gives us high torque but low velocity.
We will use medium diameter wheel of 2-3.

WHEEL BASICS
WHEEL TEXTURE
The texture of wheel should be very terrain dependent.
The wheel should not be smooth because it will not have much friction then.
Plastic wheel works poorly as compared to wheels that uses rubber.
Over smooth robot wheel would likely to slide while accelerating and braking.
We will use wheel that have rubber for friction.

MOTORS
We will use 4 dc motor in our all terrain robot.
To mount any type of motor to chassis we will need to use L shaped bracket.

MOTORS
A motor can maintain constant speed only if
torque is greater then combined force in
opposite of the robot movement.

In case the motor torque is smaller then

opposition torque the motor will stop and even
get damaged.

Above graph shows that speed is inversely proportional to torque.
