ABSTRAK Kaedah Lattice
ABSTRAK Kaedah Lattice
ABSTRACT
Typically, the students often have trouble mastering multiply any whole number with
more than one digit number. The purpose of this study was to examine the Lattice
multiplication method can help students deal with the dominant error in the operation
of multiplication of whole numbers to solve the two-digit numbers and student
acceptance of the method. The data collected in this study using two methods of
qualitative and quantitative. All datas were analized by Statistical Package for Social
Science Version 18.0 for Windows ( SPPS ). The sample consisted of 31 students from
Year Five of SK Tanjong Sepat. The instruments used were a structured observation,
questionnaires, pre and post test and review form. Regrouping the most dominant
errors committed by students. Overall, the mean score for the effectiveness of the
lattice is 4.18, it is to be ranked high. This shows that respondents' perceptions
method was positive. The results of t-tests shows that the value p is 0.847,which is the
significant value must be less than 0.05. The difference in scores of pre-test (mean =
4:06, SD = 1.843) and post-test (mean = 9:06, SD = 0.814) had an increase of 5.0.
The null hypothesis is there is no differences between the students scores using
standard method with the students scores using latticemethod in solving problems
multiply whole numbers by two-digit numbers is not accepted. This method is very
helpful for students to reduce the errors of regrouping during multiplication. Pupils
are seen having fun in the computation times using this method. This method is also
suitable to be introduced to students at level one.
