CADILLAC Call it a
good way to finish.
Cadillac showed some
toughness and grit to wrap
up the regular season with
a 48-36 win over Traverse
City Central in a Big North
Conference boys basketball
contest Thursday night.
The victory moves the Vikings (13-6 overall) into second place in the final league
standings.
The win over the Trojans,
coupled with a strong effort
against a good Mount Pleasant team, sends Cadillac
into Class B district play on
a high note.
With the physical play
and toughness you need in
the tournament, this was a
good game to prepare us and
this was a good last week of
the season for us, Cadillac
coach Jeff McDonald said.
It also marks 14 times in
the last 15 years that we finished either first or second
in the league.
Thats a good accomplishment.
The game didnt start all
that well for Cadillac as TC
Central led 12-10 after the
first quarter before the Vikings showed signs of life
late in the second quarter to
lead 22-18 at halftime.
For about a quarter
and a half, we were getting
outplayed physically, McDonald said. Our guys took
control the last three minutes of the second quarter
and then sustained it.

tience was at a much higher
level. Jalen (Brooks) set the
tone for us. He was aggressive and scored points in every quarter, which was huge
for us.
The Vikings were up 33-25
going into the fourth quarter.

Move on.
Really, that's the focus.
Cadillac did just that as it
beat Gaylord 10-2 in a MHSAA Division 3 pre-regional hockey game Thursday
night at the Otsego County
Sportsplex.
The victory sends the
Vikings (18-6-1 overall)
into Saturday's regional
title game back in Gaylord
against Sault Ste. Marie.
It marks the fourth time
in six years Cadillac has
made the regional final.
Before thinking about
the Blue Devils, though,
the Vikings had to finish
off a struggling Gaylord
team it had routed twice
during the regular season.
"We were more focused
on ourselves than the other
team, but after the first two
games against them, it's
hard to get up for games
like this and they can be
easy to overlook," Cadillac
coach Scott Graham said.
"It's easy to fall into a
trap and be overconfident."
Much like Tuesday's win
over Alpena, Cadillac came
out strong but it was just
2-1 after the first period.
The Vikings, though,
took charge in the second
period and scored five unanswered goals for a commanding 7-1 lead.
Scoring for Cadillac were
Patrick Briggs, Spencer
Graham, Keenan Kolarik,
Brett Farley, Jordan Adlam
and Blake Ford. Recording assists were Graham,
Ford, Adlam, Ryan Morse,
Briggs, Dylan Cook, Kolarik, Levi Rowan and
Ryan Pendrick.
