Kappa to me
Kappa to me is an excitement I
feel when I walk through the door
of 821 W. Hampton after a long
day, knowing that my best friends
are there waiting to greet me.
-Molly Ray, sophomore

with a new admiration for Kappa I never knew could exist. As a

freshman, I was ecstatic when I had the privilege of becoming a
Kappa. As a senior, I can finally say I understand the meaning of
Kappa being something bigger than ourselves. Mu Chapter was
very fortunate to send 13 representatives to the Biannual
Convention deep in the heart of Texas this past June.
Representing Mu in the Parade of Flags is a memory I will
cherish for a lifetime. Knowing there are 140 chapters across to
US and Canada is just a simple fact. Standing there among all the
other presidents and seeing each unique flag wave around the
room is a humbling and truly an indescribable feeling. As if
attending convention wasn't enough of an experience, our chapter
was honored with Most Improved Academic Excellence, as well
as five other honorable mentions. Mu took advantage of each and
every session engaging in conversations about how to better
ourselves and came back at the beginning of the semester eager
to share with our chapter everything we had learned.
I'm always so proud to call myself a Kappa largely because of the
women associated with the organization. What makes Kappa so
special is how supportive we all are towards each other's unique
passions. Just this past semester, three new organizations were
brought to Butler's campus due to Kappa involvement. Juniors
Sara Midura, Savannah Demoret, and Vanessa Staublin worked
tirelessly to bring a chapter of Answers for Autism to Butler.
Sophomore Savannah Kleiner pioneered an organization called
Fashion At Butler, and sophomore Sami Driggers exercised her
leadership skills to bring Chaarg to our campus. Kappas are also
involved in over 100 other organizations on campus. As a chapter,
we began the semester raising over $8,000 for a local domestic
violence shelter at our annual philanthropy event Kappa Kicko.

KAPPA KICKOFF
Every fall, Kappa raises money for
one of our philanthropies, The
Coburn Place, through Kappa
Kickoff. The chapter was able to
raise over $8,000 this year.

Kappa Kickoff featured a kickball

tournament, as well as lip syncs
by participating fraternities.
The gentlemen of Delta Tau Delta
placed first in lip syncs, and the
duo of Alpha Chi Omega and
Delta Tau Delta placed first in the
kickball tournament.

We also swept homecoming week with first place victories at

both the Lawn Decs and Yell Like Hell, and senior Sofia Valdivia
took the title of Homecoming Queen. As it is easy to see, our
members have been quite busy this semester balancing
academics, philanthropic eorts, being active in both the Greek
and Butler communities, as well as simply enjoying our college
years with each other. While the list of accomplishments and
victories can continue on, it's important to understand that
Kappa is not only about the collection of hardware and plaques
displayed in our Trophy Room. Kappa Kappa Gamma is an
organization encouraging college women to constantly lead a life
aspiring to be the better version of themselves. Being President
has allowed me to gain a better view of how this takes place in
our chapter every day. While I'm sad for my term to be coming to
an end, I feel as though my job is complete and I am ready to pass
on the torch to our new president, Courtney
West. I know I speak on behalf on Mu Chapter
when I say that we are so thankful of your support
and are excited to see what 2015 has in store for
us!
Loyally,
