Running Header: Case Analysis

Whenever a person works in any industry that has predominately been ran by a
male or female it is hard to have the opposite come in and give orders to people who
don't normally accepts orders from the opposite sex. If I show up to work every day and
have the daily orders being questioned in every aspect. Then there are several things
that I could do. First I would give the daily orders and explain to the individual that this is
his tasks for the day. If the individual still tries to argue about the assignments the next
day I would tell everyone to go about their assignments and then call that individual into
the office. I would there by explain that the orders of the day no matter male or female
giving the orders that it was his responsibility to follow those orders. If there is going to
be a problem then everyday when the daily orders are given out then the best thing for
him to do is to find another work area. The employees follow a chain of command just
like the military. The people involved must do the job in order to get the machine or
whatever it is to work. The employee must start to understand that in America everyone
is equal and that a man and a woman can have a position of authority. My next course
of action would be then to tell the employee that this is his only warning. The next would
be a verbal counseling write up and the next a write up, the next would a firing offense.
If the company had a union I would have the person contact a union representative and
have them come into the next meeting. This would allow me to express the real danger
of this getting out of hand. Maybe by doing this I can get the person to understand the
gravity of not following the directions given. This would also be an opportunity to allow
the person to request transfer to working with a person whom they feel is better suited
to help this person in their job.
