In Hebrew the possessive pronoun agrees with the possesor, and comes after the noun. My,
yours/mine, yours etc are the same.

(article)+(substantive) (sheli, shelcha, shelo)


(article)+(substantive) (sheli, shelach, shela)
(article)+(substantive) (shelanu, shelachem, shelahem)
(article)+(substantive) (shelanu, shelachen, shelahen)
My, Mine - ( sheli)
Your, Yours sing - (m) ( shelcha) / (f) ( shelach)
His - ( shelo)
Her, Hers - ( shela)
Our, Ours - ( shelanoo)
Your, Yours plur - (m) ( shelachem) / (f) ( shelachen)
Their, Theirs - (m) ( shelahem) / (f) ( shelahen)

Possessive pronouns come after the noun (which also comes with the definitive article). The result
will be - which literally translates "the book my/mine".
Examples:
my book - ( hasefer sheli)
It's theirs - ( ze shelahem)

Possesion by suffixes
There is another way of expressing possession, but it is far less common, especially in everyday
speech. It is a suffix added to the noun.

(substantive)+(i, cha, o)
(substantive)+(i, ch, a)
(substantive)+(nu, chem, hem)
(substantive)+(nu, chen, hen)

Her - ( a)
His - ( o)
Our - ( nu)
Your pl - (m) ( chem) / (f) ( chen)
Their - (m) or ( hem) / (f) ( n) or ( hen)

Examples:
my book - ( sifri).
Your brother (sing, m) - ( achicha)
Their life (f) - ( chayehen)
This is the form used in the Old Testament. Nowadays, it's used mostly in formal speech and
literature/newspapers.
