This week, students will learn how to interpret fractions as division.

This week, students will learn about the relationships between the operations, specifically:

the relationship between addition and subtraction

the relationship between multiplication and division

the relationship between addition and multiplication

the relationship between subtraction and division

Example: The Relationship Between Addition and Subtraction

When we add one number and then subtract the same number we get our original number.

w+xx=w

This number sentence is called an identity because the variables can be replaced with any
numbers and the sentence will always be true.
