POSTPRODUCTION

WHAT IS POSTPRODUCTION?
-

Post-production refers to all of the stages that take place

after the actual filming and recording of the media
product.

These are the post-production stages in the production of

a horror trailer:
1. Editing the clips in to a final sequence and condensing
the clips to the appropriate size
2. Adding in the sound effects, non diegetic and diegetic
sound
3. Adding in special effects to finalize the editing

POST-PRODUCTION AND
THE HORROR GENRE
-

In the horror genre there usually is quite a lot of editing as it

has to be quite intense and not as close to reality, for example
if the horror film has a paranormal storyline then that would
need a lot of editing as it is not real.

Usually in horror films they have a tint over scenes or even the
entire film, usually a darker or blue tint to give it the dark eerie
atmosphere that is a typical convention for a horror film.

Fast pace editing is used in most horror films especially within

trailers to allow It to build up tension to make a greater impact
on the audience at the climax of the scene, also this can be
used for montages.

Non diegetic and diegetic sounds can be edited in and

amplified to create more suspense for the audience so they are
more engaged.
