10th Grade Culmination: Recognizing Perspectives

In 10th grade, this would be my second year in the program of the Academy of Global
Studies. By this time, I have gotten well equipped to the rigorous coursework that the program
has to offer. However, this year would be the year that I learned to recognize different
perspectives from different parts of the world.
As the year began, my classes began to connect to one another. They all started to be
taught from different viewpoints on different situations that happened in history. That seemed to
connect in some type of form. Although, this was critical in my Social Studies and Language
Art classes; it was just as important in my Math and Science courses. This was not the only
change for this year. In our Global Seminar classes we began to learn about the Model United
Nations. Once we learned about this program, we began to implement the system on how our
class would be structured based upon this system. And which the teacher would give us a real
world problem and we would find solutions to the problem.
Nothing compared to the Model United Nations classroom structure as much as the trip to
Washington D.C! During this trip to Washington D.C, we explored the famous White House,
President Memorials, and the Pentagon! This trip was made for us to take a closer look at our
countrys government system and those that had the privilege of running it. It was one of the
most memorable trips of my high school career, due to the fact that it was one of the first times
that my class began to feel like a family and not just like a class trip without your peers.
