Shabdika User Manual

Introduction
There was always a need for authenticated glossaries for use. There are several
authenticated glossaries available in the form of books which have been published by
Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, Govt. of India and other govt.
deptts. Such as Reserve Bank of India and The office of the Comptroller General of India.
As the time demanded presence of these glossaries in digital form on the
computer, C-DAC Noida under the able guidance from TDIL (Technology Development
for Indian Languages) group of DIT, Ministry of Communications & Information
Technology, and Govt. of India came forward.
We have tried to computerize the glossaries so that they can be used for ready
reference in communication in Hindi. The present collection of glossaries, Shabdika, is a
first step towards this approach. We have computerized four glossaries in this package.
Administrative glossary (baRht\ P`aSaasana SabdavalaI )
Banking Glossary (baOMikga SabdavalaI )
Information Technology Terminology Glossary (saUcanaa
p`aoVaOigakI SabdavalaI )
We have tried to make easy to use collection of glossaries for ready reference by user.
Our main objective was to make available these glossaries for use and easily searchable
for relevant information. Users feedback and suggestions are always welcome to make
the product more useful and complete.
We would like to thank Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology,
Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and other govt. deptts such as Reserve Bank of India
and The office of the Comptroller General of India for their useful work in this area of
developing authenticated and standard glossaries for public use and supporting us to
computerize them.
We are in process of including many more glossaries in different domains in digital
form. In this process, we welcome the support of other govt. organizations to contribute
such glossaries so that the product is more generic and useful for public use.
