This summer, August 19th and 20th, from 8AM-4PM at the
Bloomington Fire Station #1, Bloomington Schools will be hosting Beyond Diversity, a Pacific Educational Group workshop. This training will address the impact of race and institutionalized racism on student achievement. Because we will continue to focus on educational equity next year, the site PD team is requesting the PLC lead and/or a representative from each PLC attend this training. (We realize PLC leads may change year-to-year. If you think you might be a PLC lead next year, please attend the training). Staff attending will receive the $125 stipend for each of the 2 days, as stated in your teacher contract. If you are a PLC lead and cannot attend, please find another person in your PLC that is interested in going so that all PLCs have a representative in attendance. This training is open to the whole district, but it would be great to have strong Kennedy presence there as we would like Kennedy to continue to take the lead in this endeavor. There are 80 spots and they will be filled on a first come/first served basis. All Kennedy staff are encouraged to sign up. If you are interested in going, please register on the District Staff Development Tracking System New Link as soon as possible. (It is listed under the OEE category). PLC leads, please send me the name of which PLC member(s) will be attending by Friday, February 14. A group of us attended this training in the fall and all had incredibly positive experiences (Megan Willrett, Sam Hostetler, Cheryl Martin, Jon Anderson, Bridget Michalek). If you have questions about the seminar, please feel free to contact any of us and we can share with you our experiences. Below is an overview from the PEG website and a link to their page.
