Reeves Municipal Center 2000 14% Street, NW Washington, DC 20009 Leif Dormsjo, Acting Director District Department of Transportation 55 M Street, SE Suite 400 Washington, DC 20003 Dear General Manager Sarles, Director Howland, and Acting Director Dormsjo, I am writing following the recent snow event of January 6! to bring to your attention concerns raised by many commuters about WMATA’s decisions to end bus service on routes that travel along residential streets because those streets had not been treated or plowed. This raises questions whether and to what extent priority is given to the bus-route streets and if there is adequate coordination between DPW, DDOT, and WMATA. Hearing from stranded residents and commuters left with no options was extremely upsetting. Please tell me how your respective agencies coordinate for such events and how that coordination can be improved. I look forward to your responses and ask that we meet on this matter by the end of the month. My office will follow up with a meeting request. Regards,
