Logical Analysis: Simple Sentences, extensions

Introducing the Indirect Object

The Logical Analysis work should extend over a long period of time.
Do many sentences without indirect objects before introducing them. Progress
from simple sentences and simple sentences with adverbial extensions to those
with an indirect object.
Male sure that some of your early sentences do not have a direct object.
Early introduction of the indirect objects is confusing. We want to make its
function clear. We will illustrate that an indirect object cannot exist without a
direct object and that the indirect object comes before the direct object in the
sentence.
Write the sentence
The children gave their mother a birthday present.

Let the child set up the materials including the adverbial extensions; he will
then place the verb, subject and direct object. He has had a lot of
experience and will likely place the indirect object arrow and cut and place
their mother. Guide him if necessary.

Define the indirect object and show the term on the arrow;
This part of the sentence; shows us who is receiving the direct object.
Read the sentence with emphasis:
The children gave their mother a birthday present. Their mother is the indirect
object.
