Learn how to Teach with a School Garden

Teachers and informal educators are invited to a Gardening and

Nutrition for Grades workshop scheduled for Saturday January 24, 2015 at
the Duval County Extension Office in Jacksonville. The six-hour workshop
will give teachers all the tools they need to plan, create and teach with a
school garden.
They will receive instruction from Florida Agriculture in the
Classroom and Duval County Extension staff on how to plant different
types of gardens and how to use lessons from Gardening and Nutrition for
Grades to teach language arts, math, science and other core subject areas
for kindergarten through 12th grade.
In addition to six professional development points, teachers will
receive school curriculum Gardening for Grades and Nutrition for Grades
for free.
The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Duval County
Extension office located at 1010 N. McDuff Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32254.
The fee to attend the workshop is $10. Duval County Farm Bureau
will sponsor lunch. Make $10 checks payable to DCOHAC and mail to
Teacher Workshop, Duval County Extension, 1010 N McDuff Ave,
Jacksonville, FL 32254. Deadline to register is Noon, Friday, January 23rd.
Workshop is limited to 40 participants so dont delay.
