Thing Eighteen: Dig the Data

I found data on the test scored of eleventh graders from my home district. Using the percentages listed
in the chart, I was able to create a graph using Excel so that it is easier to view the trends over the three
year time period and to compare the subject areas.

Using spreadsheets and polling in the classroom has the potential to be very beneficial, especially for
learning in math. Students would have the opportunity to create polls about topics that interested them
and this would integrate other subjects into the math lesson. When learning about graphs, students
would have the opportunity to compare their results from the poll using different types of spreadsheets
and graphs. I think that this would be a great hands on/minds on activity for students to complete!
