Location- New England, USA
Additional info- Since the tax rate for single story homes was different than that for two story
homes, private home owners started building saltbox homes to pay less tax. Both John Adams and his
son, John Quincy Adams, were born in Saltbox houses.

This style was most popular in between 1915 to around


1940
This style is most seen in southwest United States.
The typical number of Stories was 1-2
Materials- the wall are stucco walls they could be
smooth or rough,red terracotta roof tiles and wooden
door often featured iron details.
Features-arched windows and doors, tile roof and
stucco walls

There is curved lines because of the arched window and
door.
Color because the roof tiles are made from red clay soil
which gives them a rustic feel.
Contrast because the roof the where not on the same
level or shape.
Unity because the out window and doors have arches.

Additional info-This style of architecture was


influenced by native americans and spanish. it
also adapted by the military in the building of Fort
Winfield Scott barracks.
