Rich information regarding your grade level,
the standards, examples, SMPs, etc.

How to navigate through each

grade level

Begin

Choose a standard that you will be planning

Read your standard in your framework, look at any
examples, SMP ideas and vertical alignment (This will be
important as we get to know new standards and shifts in content & grades)

If it is in the framework
It is important
Rich information regarding your standard.
The more you understand, the easier the
planning

Everything is important as we get to know

our new standards. Look at each section of
the framework. It has a purpose

Remember the more you plan the better the lesson will
be
More information and resources

Use template acceptable by your site

expectations
Note essential questions for your standard
What do you want students to know?
What other standards can be embedded into this standard (*standards are best
NOT taught in isolation)

How do you want students to learn, collaborate and retain this information?
What strategies are best used to deliver this content?
Which SMPs will be addressed and how?
How can you scaffold to reach DoK level 3 & 4?
Where can you embed listening, speaking & writing?
Create guiding questions to facilitate discourse
Remember time spent planning a solid lesson now will create a more fluid
engaging lesson
