A Note from the Teacher
Well we survived the first
week back at school. I think
I may have had the hardest
time getting back into the
swing of things! We made
some New Years resolutions
and filled out mid-year data
in our data notebooks. We
made a kite to review some
important accomplishments
of Ben Franklin. We also
learned a new summarizing
strategy for retelling
stories. We were busy!

What Were Learning

Language Arts

This week we will write a

small moment narrative
story. We will focus on
identifying key details in a
story and identifying the
authors central message.

Math

We begin a HUGE unit on

addition strategies. This
week we will focus on the
make a ten addition
strategy.

Spelling

Important Reminders
Report card come home on Friday
No school on Monday
Marcos Pizza Spirit Night on Jan. 20
Winter Social after school on Jan. 22

We begin spelling this week.

Every week we will complete
spelling activities in our spelling
folders. It will be important
for you to begin to study
words with your child.

Social Studies

We will begin learning about

Harriet Tubman. This week
we will learn about her life
and compare it to our lives.
We will also be writing a Ben
Franklin biography.
