Core French: FSF 1P This course emphasizes the development of oral communication, reading, and writing skills, using a broad-based theme. Students will develop their ability to understand and speak French through conversations, discussions, and presentations. They will also read short stories, articles, poems, and song and write brief descriptions, letters, dialogues, and invitations. FSF 1P focusses on these key expectations from the Ministry of Educations curriculum: Oral Communication % listening and responding to short, structured spoken texts and short media works; % expressing ideas and opinions in short conversations and teacher-guided discussions; % making oral presentations on a variety of topics. Reading % reading and understanding a variety of simple texts; % reading a range of texts to gather information and to expand knowledge of the French language; Writing % expressing ideas and opinions in short written texts; % creating short written texts in structured and open-ended situations; Language Conventions % identifying and using appropriate language conventions in oral communication activities, reading materials and in written work.
