ABSTRACT

Observation of Authenticity and Variability Chicken Village In West Java,

Central Java and East Java
Ferlangga, B., R. H. Mulyono and R. Afnan
The purpose of this research is to collect basic data on the exsternal genetic
characteristic of Kampung chickens were feather color, feather pattern, feather
feature, feather shine, shank color and comb shape; to identify rate of introgression
imported breed (Rhode Island Red, White Leghorn and Barred Plymouth Rock) and
to identify the genetic variability of Kampung chickens. This research was done on
December 2011 to January 2012 at the Tanjung village Manggu Sindangras,
Imbanagara, Ciamis, West Java village Dampyak, East Majasem, Tegal, Central Java
and in the village Talun Duren, Blitar, East Java. The material used is Kampung
chickens on adult body condition, as many as 329 tail consisting of 105 males and
224 females. Data were analyzed using formulas were suggested by Nishida et al.
(1980) and Stanfield (1982) to identify gene frequency and rate of introgression
Rhode Island Red, White Leghorn and Barred Plymouth Rock, rate of purity and
nativegene frequency. The genetic variability were analyzed with formulas suggested
by Hashiguchi et al. (1982) and Nei (1987). The results of the calculation of gene
frequency properties of colored feathers and pea comb form of high value, indicating
that the authenticity of chicken Kampung populations Ciamis, Tegal, and Blitar still
found. Kampung chicken Ciamis, Tegal and Blitar have a level of authenticity that is
not much different from the 50%, 40% and 63% for each site. Diversity is still high
at Kampung chicken Ciamis, Tegal and Blitar provide opportunities to be selected
high.
