Letter of Reference re: Joseph de Santo

It is a pleasure to write a letter of reference for Joseph de Santo, who has taught at the
Beacon Academy since 2011. Joseph has been a dedicated teacher, committed to his
students learning, and honest and fair in his relations with them. He has demonstrated
adaptability as well as resilience, working in this part of the world with a diverse set of
students, intuiting their needs and adapting his own teaching style to suit those needs.
Joseph has been instrumental in developing the Literature course for the IB Diploma
Programme at our school. He is supportive of his colleagues and generous with his insight,
even as he is always mindful of navigating cultural boundaries and levels of
appropriateness. This does not mean that he does not challenge, as he sometimes does, in
an open discussion in the faculty room when teachers debate on school matters.
I am certain that Joseph de Santo will bring a valuable perspective from having lived in
Asia and understood a different culture from within. This, coupled with his own teacher
qualities, will make him a valuable addition to your team.
