    "First I will give a brief review of how translations have been evaluated inside different traditions and schools of thought. Second, I will present a functional-pragmatic model for evaluating translations first proposed some twenty years ago, and revised in the late nineties. In the third part of the chapter the theoretical assuptions and distinctions made in the model are put to the test in a detailed analysis of a German translation of an English children's book.
