THE RELATIONSHIP OF SOCIAL FACTORS WITH SMOKING BEHAVIOR
TOWARD STREET CHILDREN IN THE CITY OF CIMAHI 2013
(This research was done at the home of study street children in the city of Cimahi, 2013)

ABSTRACT
Background : The behavior of smoking seen from different points of view are
decided highly detrimental, both for ourself and others in the vicinity. Based on
data from the Labor Department and social resettlement Cimahi, in 2012 street
children population were as many as 64 street children scattered across the 3
point location street children like on Dustira, Leuwigajah and Cimindi streets.
Objective : The writer would like to know the relationship of social factors with
smoking behaviour toward street children in the city of Cimahi 2013.
Method :The research method used in this research is Descriptive method using
Analytic approach Cross Sectional. Sampling technique used is Accidental
Sampling and the samples as many as 40 people. The instruments used in this
study was a questionnaire. Data analysis done in periods included analysis of
univariate analysis and bivariat use chi-square test.
Result : The result of this research showed that 52.5 percent of respondents
behave heavy smoking and the smoking behaviour as many as 54.5% are
influenced by social factors. Results of statistical tests found that the value of p =
0,048 < = 0.05 so there is a relationship between social factors and behavior of
smoking toward street children in the city of Cimahi.
Conclusion : Based on the results of the study found that social factors influence
toward street children to behave smoking.
Suggestion : It needs to make some efforts to reduce the smoking behavior
toward street children, one of them such as doing illumination and counseling
about health and the dangers of smoking, also to provide more places for street
children to their study and do positive activities.
