Abstract
The titration of a strong acid (Hydrochloric acid) and a strong base (Sodium hydroxide) was
mL of NaOH

carried out using
phenolphthalein. The
trend of the amount of
the base added to the

solution produced an
irregular rise in the

pH of the solution,
which had a value of

Conclusion
The titration takes places at a very slow pace until the volume of the sodium hydroxide is almost
equal to the volume of the hydrochloric acid. Then a sudden neutralization takes place
somewhere between 9.5 and 10 mL of addition of 0.1M of sodium hydroxide to the 0.1M
hydrochloric acid solution.
