DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP WEEK

During the week 19th to 23rd of
October, students of 11G2 took up
the initiative and presented topics such as Cyber bullying, Digital
Life and Copyrights and Wrongs
in front of the class. We even participated in the tweeting to advocate Digital Citizenship and
pledged that we will be good digital citizens by being an up stander against cyberbullying, practice good digital footprint and
rove ourselves as literate online.
We learnt how to be safe online
and enjoy the internet.

[UPDATE]

After understanding the concepts of Cyber bullying and Digital

Life 102, students were assigned to make posters depicting what
they have learned from the lesson.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEK

One of the most notable days in
the month of October is breast
cancer awareness day. It is the
day where the students of the
Westminster school take part in
spreading awareness of breast
cancer. To bring awareness or to
keep others reminded of breast
cancer, an assembly was held in
the multiplus. It was a lecture concerning breast cancer. The students who had attended were given detailed information about
breast cancer. Assemblies like
this help erase ignorance and
keep the individual well-prepared
for whatever life might throw at
them.

Students made pink badges for their

teachers to wear. Some of the girls even
wore pink scarves to show that theyre
completely aware of breast cancer. A
creative poster was also made where
plastic bottles were painted in pink and
had formed the well-known breast cancer ribbon. Whether it be, huge or
small effort on bringing awareness,
what matters is that it draws one away
from ignorance.

AN UNFORGETABLE NASA EXPERIENCE

Ive been to many trips before; trips to parks,
to factories to exhibitions and even to movies
but for the first time,I went on a trip to a foreign country. At first, it started off as a joke
between me and my friend, but later on that
joke turned serious and finally we ended up
at the airport on our way to Atlanta.
The fifteen hour flight was back breaking and
neck aching. But as soon as we stepped out of
the airport into the cool morning sky all that
cured itself. Our first two days were a blast,
starting with a visit to the world of Coca Cola
where we tasted different types of drinks and
even made our own flavors, to the Georgia
aquarium where we saw a variety of colourful
fish and ending with the heart racing rides at
Six flags. But after that was when our real journey started.
Our five hour bus journey to the NASA space
camp at Alabama was a joy ride. Our first

glimpse at the place gave us the frights, the floors and rooms
resembled a military base camp which made us think the next
six days would be all sweat and blood, but you know what
they say, looks can be deceiving. This trip was meant to be
educational but the whole journey was so fun and adventurous
that we didnt even notice we were learning all the way. We
experienced a whole new different world at the space camp
and did all sorts of fun activities in our given teams like, building rockets, heat shields, making water filters, role playing
missions and experiencing what it would be like to walk on
the moon. We also went through challenging tasks like climbing a 50ft wall and jumping off a pole in Area 51.
I never thought it would be possible to have so much fun and
adventure. What Id really be missing though would be our
crew trainers who inspired us and constantly told us to be
great!; and the friendly people that we met and saw along
this trip. I am thankful to have such an opportunity and I hope
to re-live those days once again. And remember, we live within the universe and the universe lives within us...

DONT BE A MOLE IN THE HOLE TAKE A ROLE DURING

A YEARLY PRACTICE FOR BEING SAFE FROM FIRE
Every year, our whole school gets trained with the responsibilities and behaviours in order to
take action in case of fire. Obviously, we dont want to stand under the burning sun but, we want
to survive from the carbon monoxide which could cause choking to death. We all know that
practice makes us perfect, as for this one practice makes us totally awake.
Students should also listen to their teachers that they should not get vanished from their positions for meeting friends of other classes. Thats because among the responsibilities of a class
teacher, attendance must be counted and during the fire-drill it is compulsory for just in case if
one of them is missing, a red card is waved through the air. A green card shows that everyones
present.
And one more thing, being cautious, alert and awake makes a fire-proof coated around you. At
any time, youve got to be aware about your role as a survivor from the chokes of CO.
Be SAFE and be ALERT

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET DEBATE

Last week the multimedia members of the class were given the
opportunity to observe and evaluate a live debate held in the Multiplus about Freedom of Information
on the internet. There were two
opposing teams who accommodated a very thought-provoking
debate. I found myself getting interacted, and also the fact that I
was doing a project on cyberbullying further stimulated my
knowledge and attention. In my
opinion I think the internet should
be monitored because a majority
of the youth makes use of the internet and we cant assure wheth-

er they will misuse it or not so I

think its a good idea to further
monitor their usage.
