Ten years ago, Senator Kevin Parker launched A Shared Dream concert to honor the life and legacy of
the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Subsequently the foundation was established to further
maximize the potential of the tribute and its impact on the community.
Dr. Kings dream must be kept alive, particularly against the background of the tragedies in Ferguson,
Missouri, Staten Island, and so many other cases. Dr. King famously said: Injustice anywhere is a threat
to justice everywhere. We know that wisdom to be true, and we will gather together to celebrate Dr.
Kings vision, and to renew the bonds of our community.
