Madagascar Map

165 million years ago,

Madagascar broke free from
Africa and drifted 400 kilometres
out into the Mozambique
Channel. Isolated from the rest
of the world, wildlife evolved
along its own distinct path; of
Madagascars 200,000 species,
more than 80 percent are
endemic. The most famous are
the lemurs. The beaches are
long and sandy; small fishing
villages are shaded by mango
and breadfruit trees. Kick off
your walking boots, lie back and
watch the frigate birds soar
overhead.

Experience
Madagascar

Accommodation
There are no luxurious lodges, large operators
or hotel chains. We love this, as it means that
there is a wonderful array of places to stay,
each different from the next. In the rainforest
there are small camps where chickens cluck
around the garden and their eggs are collected
for breakfast.

In villages and towns you can stay

in old colonial homesteads, and on
the coast you can choose from tiny
guesthouses or boutique hotels.

Madagascar
A haven for wildlife lovers and
home to stunning mountains,
spectacular rainforests
and white-sand beaches, this
island paradise remains
largely undiscovered.
