Capital Punishment Persuasive Essay

Using data gathered from five sources, argue for or against capital punishment in
an essay designed to change the readers opinion on the topic.
Your essay should be planned using all steps of the planning process. This will be
an essay that is LONGER than 5 paragraphs. You will have more than three main
ideas in this essay.
Your essay will have citations that support EACH idea in the paper. This might
mean you have 1-3 citations per paragraph.
Each paragraph will be 7-9 sentences long at a minimum.
Introduction (See planning rules)
3 Paragraphs that state your position, explain it, and provide the reader with
the evidence that supports your position. (Are you for or against capital
punishment?)
3 Paragraphs that explain the opposing argument and the supporting data.
Provide 3 main ideas of the opposing argument with explanation and
support. (The other side says.)
3 Paragraphs that take apart each of the 3 main ideas behind the opposing
argument and provide the supporting data (Why are they wrong?)
Conclusion (why should your reader change his/her mind? Remind him/her
of the key evidence)
Works cited page (Google MLA Works Cited Page Format).
