Evaluation:
Goal
Students will be engaged in collaborative problem solving and will gain 21st century
skills to increase student achievement. Implementing project-based learning and
increasing student technology use in the classroom will address this.
Objective
By June 2016, students and teachers at Knapp Elementary will increase the use of
technology in K-2 classrooms by:
1. Increasing student access and use of technology from sixty minutes per week to a
minimum of three hundred minutes per week, or sixty minutes each day.
Methods:
Teachers will keep a log of the amount of time students are
engaged with technology in rigorous academic learning activities.
Reports generated from Odyssey Compass Learning, ST
Math, and First in Math will be analyzed weekly to ensure students are
meeting or exceeding the minimum amount of usage time each week.
2.

Implementing project-based learning in K-2 classrooms.

Methods:
Teachers will work collaboratively with their grade level
teams to develop project-based learning (PBL) units.
Grade level teams will submit at least one PBL unit plan to
school administration.
Teachers will collect formative assessment data throughout
each PBL unit.

Students will submit self-reflections for each PBL unit

completed. The self-reflections will include data regarding participation,
critical thinking, collaboration, quality of work, and evidence to show how
the student met the units standards.
Student groups will present and submit a final project that
addresses the guiding question. Each final submission will incorporate the
21st century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration,
communication, and creativity and innovation.
