Creating smiles creating happiness:

Colgate India supported the Hyderabad Mission of 'Operation Smile', the largest humanitarian
nongovernmental organization in the world to provide free surgery to children and young adults,
suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities at a weeklong camp, at
Rainbow Childrens Hospital and Prenatal Centre in Hyderabad. The camp began with a two-day
screening sessions on August 7 & 8, 2008 and the short-listed patients underwent surgery from
August9-14,2008.
The team consisted of medical professionals from the Philippines, Singapore and the United
States, who worked with their in-country Indian counterparts to perform these life-changing
surgeries.
Colgate has been committed towards creating awareness and improving oral health among
children and believes that the most evident sign of good oral health is a healthy smile. The 112
children and young adults who underwent surgery have returned home with a new smile, new
friends and a strong sense of self- worth.

Positive steps:
Colgate-Palmolive India Ltd., has been working for over a year, with 'NETWORK IN THANE
OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS' (NTP+), in supporting children affected/ infected by
HIV Positive of various ages in Thane District. Children living with HIV/AIDS have special
needs that are different from those of adults. Under the programme 'Positive Step', the company
supports a group of children in providing special nutrition besides sponsoring their school fees.

The company encourages its employees in its payroll giving programme thus building awareness
amongst employees about the need of these children while also creating a feeling of care for the
less fortunate.
The programme has been running for some time now, and there has been a noticeable impact in
terms of the children being more regular at school in attendance, improvement in their academic
performance, sensitization among the peer group towards the stigma associated with HIV, their
basic social and emotional needs are addressed through various workshops, thus impacting their
lives positively. Importantly, through the company's support, the Positive Step programme has
brought hope to these children that they have an opportunity to follow their dreams
