Student portfolios were used at Greendale Elementary for students to reflect on their work, self-evaluate their progress, and set goals for the next term. During my time at Greendale Elementary, I got to be a part of the student
portfolio process. While the pieces put into these portfolios were selected by my cooperating teacher, I hope to one day use student portfolios in my classroom as a means of getting students to reflect on their work, self-evaluate their progress, and set goals for themselves for the next term. As it was, the portfolios were an excellent means of getting students involved in the discussion with their parents and teachers in regards to their own learning and engagement in the classroom.
