Key Features
Global Recognition
The ICAEW ACA qualification is highly regarded globally as one of the leading business and finance
qualifications, and is recognised and valued in practice, industry, commerce and the public sector.
Practical Approach
Seamlessly merging examinations with practical on-the-job training, it fully equips you with all the relevant
experience, skills and professional knowledge to make sound decisions in genuine business environments.
The Advanced Stage
The Advanced Stage exams are designed to train your skills as a business advisor and communicator. Here,
students are tested on multiple areas of the syllabus and their ability to provide practical business advice
to their clients.
Industry Advantage
Many ICAEW members achieve partner or financial director status early in their careers, paving the way for
a greater variety of opportunities, rewards and influence as their career progresses. In fact, 86% of FTSE 100
company boards include at least one ICAEW member.

Exam Structure
The ACA exam structure
The ACA comprises two stages the Professional Stage and the Advanced Stage.
Professional Stage modules
The Professional Stage consists of knowledge modules which introduce
you to the core concepts underpinning accountancy, and the application
modules where you can demonstrate how you can develop and apply
technical knowledge and skills.
Advanced Stage modules
The Advanced Stage is where the ACA demonstrates its world-leading
quality. The modules will stretch you to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach
and prove that you can use judgment as well as technical and analytical
skills.
The Case Study, which is based on a Harvard Business School model, will
test your professional skills in the context of a specific business issue and
challenge you on multiple areas of the syllabus.
Ethics, technical work experience and initial professional development are
integrated throughout both stages. This supports your business decisionmaking and puts your learning into context.

accounting to audit, tax, law, business strategy, all which are useful in the work
environment.

studying the ACA has helped me integrate what I have learnt in my daily work
responsibilities. My work experiences have also helped me in my ACA papers as they
have given me insights which cannot be learnt from the textbook.

Graduates
Our first cohort of students successfully completed the ICAEW programme in the November
2007 examinations. Since then until the November 2010 examinations, a total of 95 ICAEW
students benefited from our tuition programme and graduated as Chartered Accountants. They
are now involved in various businesses and industries, with many holding senior positions in their
respective organisations.
This is a testimony of our team of qualified and experienced lecturers and what can be achieved
on a mentor (lecturers) and mentee (students) basis.
32
Sunways team of lecturers taught us workable strategies on top of content. Time and again, they have clearly
laid out important areas where students should not compromise and should continually work on, and not merely
study the entire syllabus by rote.
Adeline Wan Siew Mei
Sunway lecturers form an integral part of my success. I appreciate their sacrifices, and
inspiration drawn from their lectures drove me to work to the best of my capabilities.
Aaron Kee Jenn Foong
Ms Rozi, my Taxation lecturer really motivated me to aim high. She often told us that we should always aim for
the stars so even if we missed that, wed land among the clouds. Her lectures on life really inspired me to study
harder.

especially through the Deloitte Tax Challenge, where its students have without fail to participate in
the competition every year. Some of the students have emerged as champions in the competition,
exhibiting their technical competence. We therefore rank graduates from Sunway-TES very highly
when it comes to recruitment in our selection process. The culture of excellence and learning
environment at Sunway-TES has produced graduates, who are not only successful academically
but able to apply their knowledge in todays business environment.
