Benign Positional Vertigo
Benign Positional Vertigo
BPV is another word for labyrinthitis. Deep inside your ear, you have a balance organ
that has fluid (endolymph) and little rocks that tell your head where in space you are. The
little hairs that sense where the rocks are, can get irritated and give you false sensation. It
confuses the brain to get unmatched signals from the two ears or from eyes and ears.
Fortunately, BPV goes away by itself in a few days. If it gets very bad, you may need
antihistamines to treat the associated nausea.
