William went to school in
Stratford and surprised
everyone with his great
grammar. Boys typically
entered school at the age of
5, but we dont know how
old Shakespeare was when
he entered.

Shakespeare marries Ann
Hathaway. He was 18
years old and she was
26. They were 8 years
old apart.

May 26,
1583
Six months after
Shakespeare and Anns
wedding, they have
their first baby. Her
name was Susana.

1585
Ann gives birth to twins.
They named them after
Shakespeares close
friends, Hamlet and Judith
Sadler.

1590
Shakespeare writes
Henry VI, part one -his
first play. Around the
same time,
Shakespeare leaves
Stratford to begin a
work as a play wright

Robert Greene called
Shakespeare a upstart crow
who doesnt belong with
Greenes University

London theater is closed


because of a disease that kills
five percent of the citys
residence. The disease is
called Bubonic Plague which
circulates mainly in fleas and
small rodents.

Shakespeare publishes
Venus and Adonis, his first
poem.

The London theatre reopens


to the public. Shakespeares
troupe, the Chamberlains
Men, become one of the
most popular acting groups
in London.

Shakespeare publishes the


rape of Lucrece.

William and Anne bury their


son, Hamnet, who dies at
the age of eleven. Nobody
knows why he died.

Writer Francis Meres


publishes a great review of
Shakespeares work.

The Chamberlains Men


build the Globe, a theater in
London. Most of
Shakespeares famous
plays are performed for the
first time there.

Shakespeares dad died and


his boss Earl Southampton is
sentenced to death for his
role in the Essex rebellion.
People believe that the death
of his dad motivated him to
write Hamlet.

Publisher Thomas prints a


collection of 154 of
Shakespeares sonnet.

Shakespeare leaves London


and moves back to Stratford
to live with his family.

Shakespeare composes his


final plays Henry VIII, two
Noble Kinsmen, and how
lost Cardenio- in
collaboration with John
Fletcher.

Suffering from an unknown


illness, Shakespeare dies
on his 52nd birthday.

John Heminge and Henry


Condell, Shakespeares
former collegue in the Kings
Men, collect 36 of their
friends plays and publish
them together in a volume
now known as the First Folio.

And is still known today
