To whom it may concern:

I would like to express interest as a middle school science teacher at the Garland Independent
School District for the 2015-2016 school year. I will be graduating in the summer, 2015 with a
Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as a teacher certification (4-8 Science)
with the highly rigorous UTeach program.
As a future teacher, I believe that each student has the ability to learn. As a student teacher, I
have come to notice students have a voice their own. They each have different learning styles
that will enable them to understand the lessons and the most important thing I have learned is
that as a teacher, I have to give each student adequate attention and care. I will introduce positive
rapport in my classroom as it is essential. Each student should feel respected, safe and valued.
During my student teaching semester with 7th graders at Blalack Middle School, I was able to
implement engaging lessons to meet the interests of the diverse class. My lessons integrated
different forms of discussions, games, labs and technology to have the students expand their
levels of understanding. I created short pre/post-tests to help me determine how well they
understood the daily lesson. To integrate their love of games, I created a game of jeopardy and
tested their knowledge of the animal/plant cells. Not only were the students excited to play the
game, this was a great revision for them. All in all, the lesson was successful, as they did
tremendously better in their post-tests than in the pre-tests.
I believe that the Garland Independent School District would be a great fit for me as I have spent
most of my student teaching in Bussey Middle School located in the district. I believe GISD is a
very multicultural and community oriented which makes me more attracted to working there.
At your earliest convenience, I hope to be able to discuss this position with you. If you have any
questions, please contact me at (469) 733-6132 and/or fxm111530@utdallas.edu. Thank you for
your consideration.

Sincerely,

Famida Mohamedkhan
