The Parade for the Arts will be held on Sunday June 20, 2015 (the last day of spring) in
Central Park, Manhattan to celebrate several types of art and the beauty of nature. Everybody is
welcome to march in the parade. It will start at the baseball fields behind The Metropolitan
Museum of Art at 10:00AM. The parade will appreciate nature, statues, architecture, and modern
art. Individuals partaking in the parade will pass through the Shakespeare Garden, the Alice in
Wonderland Statue sculpted by Jos de Creeft, the Hans Christian Andersen sculpted by Georg
John Lober, the Balto statue sculpted by Frederick George Richard Roth, the St. Patricks
Cathedral designed by James Renwick, Jr., and then end their day off at the Museum of Modern
Art where they will be able to enjoy the museum for free!
Central Park serves as the perfect location for this parade because Central Park is
beautiful in June, there are several parking garages around Central Park for people to park their
cars in before the event, and there are police stations and fire departments located near the parade
route in case of emergencies. The parade mostly takes part within Central Park, so not many
main city streets will be disrupted by the event besides 5th Avenue, Madison Avenue, East 53rd
Street, and West 52nd Street. Traffic around these streets will easily be rerouted southwest of the
Museum of Modern Art and St. Patricks Cathedral. Dunkin Donuts will have increased business
on the morning of the parade since it is advertised that they are the sponsors. Also, the many food
vendors located along the edge of Central Park and the several Cafs and restaurants throughout
the park will get increased business due to the event. Individuals who do not want to take part in
the parade and just view it from the side can watch along from any of the scenic greens in
Central Park.
