Literacy: Were finishing up our

nonfiction unit with a research project.
We will begin our mystery book unit later
this month. Were continuing to work on
reading comprehension strategies and
daily language review skills.

Writing: We are beginning our unit on

expository nonfiction writing. Students
will be exploring topics to write about
using nonfiction text features.

Math: We will be finishing up

Week 7 on our math facts on Friday the
16th. PLEASE encourage your child to
continue to study and review!!! We will be
spending the next two weeks on area and
perimeter and applying both to real life
story problems. Fractions will follow area
at the end of the month and will be our
focus for most of the third quarter. We
will be working on parts to a whole, adding
and subtracting fractions and equivalent
fractions as well.

Social Studies: We are currently

in our Geography unit. Students will be
using maps and globes to locate various
places. We will also be learning about land
forms and bodies of water. We will end
this unit with a research project
exploring countries around the world. We
will be looking at their cultures and
demographics and the final product will be
in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.
Students will be allowed to bring their
own technology during this time.
